Welcome Back to the 2017-2018 School Year!
Welcoming everyone to the 2017-2018 school year.!Together through all our collaborative efforts we established a stronger math foundation for all our students. We will continue to build our Math Metropolis by continuing with last year's theme: Transforming Mindsets in All Our Students: With + Math + I Can.There are two theories of learning. The first, a "fixed mindset" is one in which the learner believes that if your not born with specific abilities you can never attain them. A "growth mindset" is the belief that one can develop abilities through hard work, effective strategies and guidance from others. This year our schoolwide concentration will be on "Writing in Math" in grades K-5.Emphasis will continue to foucs upon increasing grade level computational Math fluency and intervention tutoring sessions. Galaxy Kids club (grades 3-5) will take place once a month starting in October. Mobymax and Tenmarks school wide competitions will take place throughout the year and grade level Math Bees will take place once a year. Our Math FOCUS team will continue to review data results to discern the type of instructional supports and best practices to facilitate learning.Parent workshops will be conducted and the Math newsletter, the Bowser Baton, will be distributed right before the Christmas vacation. I look forward to another successful and rewarding year of learning!
